Spring Festivals in Atlanta

Springtime has officially arrived and we think the best way to spend it is outside under the sun! Each year Atlanta kicks off the season with some of the biggest and best festivals in the Southeast. Whether you enjoy browsing arts and craft booths or relaxing to live music with a local beer; there is something for everyone. We’ve rounded up our favorite events in April and May and hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Atlanta Dogwood Festival

April 8th – April 10th

A local staple and favorite, The Atlanta Dogwood Festival has evolved into one of the largest events in the Southeast and offers something for everyone. After perusing the Fine Artist Market, grab a funnel cake and head over to the live music area. If you have the kiddos in tow, be sure to check out the Kid’s Village for arts and crafts and a puppet show. Parking can be tricky at Piedmont Park, so we suggest Ubering.

Georgia Renaissance Festival

April 9th – May 30th

Bring the family and step back into medieval times for the day. The festival features a 32 acre Artisan Market, 10 stages of music, jousting tournaments, and sword swallowing shows with nearly 1,000 character wearing period piece costumes. Come hungry so you can be sure to try the giant turkey legs sold at one of the many pubs!

Atlanta Film Festival

April 21st – May 1st

This 10 day event is one of the largest film festivals in the country! This year marks the 46th anniversary and will be a hybrid combination of virtual screenings and in person viewings. Its our only indoor event on the list but we thought it still deserved a spot! The three venues this year will include: Plaza Theatre, Dad’s Garage, and The Carter Center. Film enthusiasts will have the opportunity to view more than 150 films in several different genres.

Inman Park Festival

April 22nd – April 24th

Set in one of the city’s oldest and most beautiful neighborhoods, this festival highlights local art, a Victorian home tour, and a costumed 5k run. The Inman Park neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was first developed in the 1880’s. There are now more than 300 homes in various stages of restoration and thousands flock to the area each year to celebrate its beauty through the festival.

Decatur Arts Festival

May 6th – May 8th

Nominated for the best public square in the country, we love visiting Decatur any chance we get! The festival kicks off Friday night with ArtWalk. Stroll along the square as you listen to live music and pop into the local businesses hosting free art receptions. Saturday and Sunday will host 140 artists from all over the Southeast along with comedy and theatre performances.

Atlanta Jazz Festival

May 28th – May 30th

If you’re sticking around the city for Memorial Day, kick off your weekend listening to some show stopping performances. Celebrating it’s 45th anniversary, the Atlanta Jazz Festival features jazz legends and up-and-coming jazz greats at different venues throughout the entire month of May. Each year the festival culminates with a free event at Piedmont Park.
