Science in Our Own Backyard

So you just watched the great solar eclipse of 2017 and now you’re all into outer space, huh? Great news! We have two fantastic facilities right in our backyard to help feed your interest and increase your knowledge!

Fernbank Science Center :: The two main attractions are the planetarium and the observatory.  You’ll also be able to see their live animal exhibit and the Apollo 6 command module! It’s a great little museum and is good for families or for a fun (and cheap!) date night. The museum and observatory are free, while the planetarium tickets are only $7 for adults and $5 for children. Check the hours before going as they are limited.

Tellus Science Museum :: Tellus is a 120,000 square foot museum located in Cartersville, GA. It is divided into 4 attractions: The Weinman Mineral Gallery, The Fossil Gallery, Science in Motion and The Collins Family My Big Backyard (their planetarium and observatory). It’s definitely worth the drive to see all of the fantastic things it has to offer! Open daily 10:00-5:00. Admission is $15.95 for adults and $11.95 for children. The planetarium is an additional $3.50.
