Atlanta is officially HOTLANTA!

Each month, I’m like a kid on Christmas morning awaiting the release of Metro Atlanta’s Monthly Market Overview. Of course, I love homes but I especially love geeking out on housing stats. And, it’s not just because I’m a little nerdy. It’s because I truly believe that your real estate agent should be able to provide you with the most accurate depiction of the real estate market and NOT just talk HGTV (window treatments, flooring and countertops)!

I am constantly meeting new agents. And, I must say nothing drives me crazier than when they say, “I just think real estate would be so FUN! I love looking at homes!”

Real estate is so much more than looking at homes. The best real estate agents have an impeccable understanding of the real estate market – from the most recent trends in statistical data to negotiating the best deal on behalf of our clients. We have to know it ALL!

YEAR over YEAR comparisons:

  • Inventory in Metro Atlanta is down 12.9%– SIGNIFICANT
  • Pending Sales are up 1.2%
  • Solds are up 2.2%
  • Failed listings are down 12.6% – SIGNIFICANT
  • Median sales price is up 6.3% – SIGNIFICANT
  • Although our inventory in Metro Atlanta is down 13% (year over year), that is not stopping Metro Atlanta home buyers from purchasing homes. Do you see that we have more pendings and solds than we did last year with less inventory?


I think this is important. Seems to me that home buyers who have been on the fence about buying aren’t letting low inventory stop them. We’re seeing this here at The Peters Company. There are no assurances that prices will stop climbing or interest rates will stay this low. So, many homebuyers who have waited to find the “right” time to buy have decided that there is no “right” time.

I’ve been saying for years that you can NOT time the real estate market – even us real estate agents. And, it’s always a great time to buy a great house.
