Atlanta Neighborhood Spotlight :: Brookwood Hills

Dore's House

I live in a great historic, intown neighborhood called Brookwood Hills.  It is located off Peachtree Road across from Piedmont Hospital, just south of Buckhead.   It was founded in the 1920s by Benjamin Franklin Burdett and his son, Arthur. The neighborhood was the scene for many American Civil War Battles, and boasts a nature preserve.

There are about 1,000 people living in Brookwood Hills and they are constantly renovating and updating their homes. The architecture ranges from tudor to Georgian to Colonial to Cape Cod.

Most of the streets have sidewalks on both sides and it is an active community for all ages. The oak-lined streets are one of the well-known distinctions of the neighborhood. The location is fabulous and convenient to area shopping and restaurants. Residents also enjoy the pool, tennis courts, clubhouse, and park.

Some of our famous residents, past and present, include Pat Conroy, Ed Helms (Andy from the tv show The Office), and Kathryn Stockett (author of The Help).
